In PYRE, I look at fire as both a destructive force and a sculptor. The work centers on the charred skeletons of trees, accompanied by the sounds of their own consumption; the sparking and roaring captured during the burn. Together, the audio and the soot-blackened wood serve as evidence of a finished event. It is an exploration of the traces left behind when matter is reduced to memory and heat.
